The Initial Evaluation of Students: The Training Role of the School Inspector

Abstract
This article highlights the importance of initial evaluation in the Spanish educational system. It emphasizes that quality and equitable education is essential to improve academic results and reduce school dropout rates. The Education Inspectorate plays a crucial role in this process, acting as a factor of quality and equity. The author proposes a practical model of initial evaluation focused on competency-based learning, which includes phases such as coordinating the teaching team, gathering information, and adopting teaching strategies. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for a defined procedure for initial evaluation and the proactive role of the Education Inspector in advising and promoting equality and equity in education.
