Abstract
In order to remark the fact that subjects of Classical Languages suit perfectly to the new LOMLOE framework, this paper reviews the term scytale from a philological perspective and as an educational resource with numerous and profitable possibilities. We deal with its etymology, its wide significance of the term and its use in the most representative Greco-Latin authors who mention the scytale. In addition, we focus on its pedagogical application in the classroom, providing ideas in order to produce a project or a “learning situation”, widely tested in our daily teaching practice. According to the pedagogical principles of LOMLOE, this paper shows the extraordinary teaching possibilities of scytale as well as its suitability to achieve the “key competencies” and many of the stage objectives.
