The Role of Educational Inspection in the Construction of the European Education Area

Abstract
This article seeks to analyse the role that educational inspection in Spain may play in processes of internationalization and improving the educational system in the path toward achieving the European Education Area, key vision of the European Commission and the Member States. The article examines the concept of internationalisation and justifies its value within the European Union, then presents a summary of the context of the European Union and the policies and instruments in the field of education and training as part of a joint effort to improve the quality, equity, and inclusiveness of educational systems, highlighting Erasmus+ among the European instruments. This is linked to the role of educational inspection not only as a supervisor and guarantor of the proper functioning of schools, but also as a companion, advisor, and agent of change.
