Abstract
This paper analyzes the trajectory of the Inspection of Education in the province of Teruel from the creation of the Ministry of Education in 1900 to the proclamation of the Second Republic in 1931. This period is characterized by a new system of selection of inspectors, much more demanding, and by new laws that granted them more functions and powers, not only in the supervision of schools and teachers, but in advising and training of teachers. The main conclusion of the research is the finding of most of the advances in the educational system of the province: school graduation, improvement of school facilities, changes in teaching methods, introduction of new materials or school mutualities that were led by inspectors allocated to the province.
